Accessibility
Standards for this website
When designing its website, Triodos Bank is committed to ensuring the website is fully accessible to everyone. In the design phase, all designs were tested against the WCAG 2.0 guidelines (World Wide Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0) with a view to attaining AA standard (highest standard). During the testing phase Triodos Bank worked with The Accessibility.nl Foundation, an international centre of expertise on web accessibility and one of the few inspection bodies in The Netherlands accredited to test web accessibility.
Currently this website does not yet fully comply to level A standard. Triodos Bank is committed to achieve this level in the near future. Accessibility.nl Foundation: ‘We are happy that Triodos Bank has the ambition to conform with our priority 1 level of web accessibility. This ensures basic accessibility to all users. By involving our foundation at an early stage in their developing and testing process we will be able to secure accessibility from beginning to end’.

Graphical design
On every decision taken, we asked ourselves whether it contributed to user-friendliness and accessibility. One of the outcomes was that we decided to increase the contrast between text and background to ensure that text could be read more easily.
Text resizing
We enabled alteration of text sizes through the text larger / smaller option at the top of the page.
Javascript
We applied Javascript to improve usability of the site and make the site more visually attractive. We decided not to use Flash. For all instances where Javascript was applied, alternatives are available so that people without javascript (and readers) are able to access the functionality provided.
Images
All images on the site are accompanied by an alt-text tag that identifies the image or its function.
Next steps
Although Triodos Bank aims to have a website that is fully accessible to everyone, there is still work to be done to reach this goal. For example, we are currently looking to improve the accessibility of product application forms. It is, in the meantime, possible to apply for these products over the telephone.
